Meet our Volunteers
Here’s what some of our volunteers have said about their volunteering experience with us:
I have volunteered for SIFA Fireside since March 2009 and joined the Fundraising Committee last year. I wanted to use my marketing experience to help raise funds. For me organising a charity quiz night is a really rewarding experience. Fundraising has given me the opportunity to meet new people and develop new skills. I helped to raise over £750 last year and we had some great feedback. I am pleased this has now become an annual event!

Being a recent graduate where I studied media and journalism, I came to SIFA Fireside to develop more skills and to meet new people from different walks of life.
Helping people who are less fortunate has always been a passion of mine and working at SIFA Fireside I feel as if I’m helping to make changes.
I volunteer here twice a week and assist with administration duties, desk support and events. I find the work of the organisation, the staff members and the clients inspiring, insightful and interesting. I have met some great people and developed a lot of skills in the last month of being here. Each week of being at SIFA Fireside I have learnt something new and exciting which I know will be very useful for my future career.

I have been living in Birmingham for approximately six months and during this time SIFA Fireside has provided me with a huge amount of support and advice. The best thing is that they give service users the opportunity to be a part of their team and help deliver services. What sets SIFA Fireside apart is that they encourage their clients to find out what they like and are good at supporting them to develop their talents.
They’ve sent me on a wide range of training courses to equip me with the skills and knowledge to deliver some peer sessions to prospective service user volunteers, which I’m immensely looking forward to doing.
So far, I have enjoyed my volunteering experience with SIFA Fireside and feel a valued member of the team. I’m looking forward to working alongside staff members and will be providing taster Tai Chi sessions to help improve clients’ well-being.
