Work Placements
If you are a student and have to do a work placement as part of your course, you can apply to do this on a voluntary basis with us. We have recently had social care students from Birmingham University and Birmingham City University successfully complete 6 month full time placements with us. Alternatively you can volunteer one or two days a week for a fixed period of time.

"As a Social Work student on placement at SIFA Fireside I’ve
learnt a lot! I was based in the Resettlement team which meant
I could key work my own clients (under supervision) and offer
emergency accommodation advice during ‘drop in’ sessions.
I’ve also been involved in the Volunteer Induction Programme,
done research with the alcohol team and visited hostels
and rehabilitation centres. I’d recommend this placement to
any student as the work is very rewarding, and there are good
team dynamics and support behind you". |
