Alcohol Support Service

Do you know that alcohol is a drug? Do you know that it is a depressant (a downer)? Do you know how much you drink? Is alcohol affecting your relationships? Is alcohol affecting your working life? Do you think you have a problem with alcohol? Do your loved ones think you have a problem with alcohol?

SIFA Fireside have been working with people affected by alcohol since 1983 and we offer a free and confidential service to anyone who is worried by their use of alcohol.

What is a drink problem?

Everyone is unique and as such every problem is unique too. At SIFA Fireside we believe that a drink problem is whatever it means to you. It may be that you are drinking two cans a night in front of the telly but to you that is a problem. You may be drinking a bottle of vodka every day and to you that is a problem. Whatever level you are at, we will work with you to address your problem with alcohol.

We will help you to reduce your use of alcohol safely until you are where you want to be, whether that is a "social drinker" or completely free from alcohol altogether.

What will I be offered?

You will be offered one to one key working with a member of our specialist alcohol team. You will be offered weekly appointments where we will ask you to look at, and record, how much you are drinking, when you are drinking and where you are drinking. This can be a difficult thing for people to do and it can take a while for people to be honest with themselves about this. At SIFA Fireside we recognise this and will work at your speed.

We can also refer you to other agencies for help in relation to, for example, drugs or gambling.

Is this the right place for me?

Come and see us, just for a chat, one of our team will be more than happy to discuss your needs and concerns with you. No obligation, just friendly, confidential advice without a lecture.

How do I access your alcohol support services?

There are several ways you can access our services. See How to Access Our Services for more details.
