Who is this training aimed at?

This Level 2 course is designed for people who handle, prepare or serve food to the public or to their service users, or who are interested in working in this field.


What does the training cover?

By law, all who handle food must have an understanding of the basic principles of food hygiene, and know how to work safely to protect the food they serve from contamination.

This one-day course will enable you to understand the legal requirements in relation to:

  • controlling risks to food safety
  • controlling temperatures
  • storage of food and equipment
  • safe food preparation
  • personal hygiene, and
  • equipment and premises hygiene.

The course provides learners with up-to-date food hygiene information through a range of learning styles, interactive exercises and visual aids. The course includes a test at the end of the day which leads to a recognised Food Safety Level 2 accreditation by Qualsafe.

Trainer profile

Mary Mantom has worked in the hospitality industry for 24 years and has worked in various roles where food safety was vital to the successful running of the operation, including in the private, public and third sectors.  She has been involved in carrying out inspections on catering operations and has been training food service staff and volunteers since 2005.
