Background information.
Conflict is a normal, natural and inevitable part of life (in our relationships, at work and internally) It allows for the sharing of divergent viewpoints and can lead to positive changes in values, beliefs and behaviour. It can result in new insights and perspectives leading to positive changes both personally and professionally.

Conflict becomes destructive when there is no resolution, relationships deteriorate or behaviour becomes aggressive. Conflict management is the process of limiting the negative aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects of conflict.
