We are pleased to announce that The Cardinal Griffin Catholic College have adopted us as their charity partner for their Year 13 students . The Cardinal Griffin Catholic College works with students to promote important values of compassion, hope and generosity and to become ‘men and women for others’, and each year they ask students which issues and charities they would like to support.
“We chose to work with SIFA Fireside because of the essential work it does to support people who are homeless. It is about so much more than providing shelter and food; it is about providing access to vital services, safety and above all else, a friend. Sixth Form students at Cardinal Griffin Catholic College are delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile charity and it has increased awareness about the reasons why people become homeless, the challenges they face and often the lack of help available. SIFA Fireside offers that help and we are excited to be able to contribute to their amazing efforts.” Miss Claire Hill – Head of Year 13, Cardinal Griffin Catholic College.
We were really pleased to be invited recently to give a presentation to the students, to help them understand more about homelessness, some of the issues and challenges people face and the services that SIFA Fireside and other partners deliver to help these vulnerable adults.
They have already begun arranging fundraising activities with their first event, a ‘sleep out’ planned in April.
Support from schools helps us to continue to fund and deliver our much needed drop-in centre and services based at Allcock Street, Digbeth, where we work with some of Birmingham’s most vulnerable adults; people who are homeless or vulnerably housed.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff, students and students’ parents/guardians for their involvement in supporting SIFA Fireside.
