Out of the Woodwork is our restoration and upcycling social enterprise which takes overlooked and neglected furniture and ‘nurtures, revives and inspire’ it back to life.
Our workforce is made up of vulnerable adults facing issues including homelessness, alcohol misuse, mental and physical health issues and social exclusion. Through our intensive programme we teach them the art of furniture restoration and provide that all-important guiding hand to help them move forward.
Thanks to the Women’s Enterprise Hub on Ladypool Road in Sparkbrook we now have a fantastic shop window in which to display our furniture. Although we have our online shop we know many people like to be able to see the items ‘in the flesh’ and it is, wherever possible, the best way to see and experience the piece.
This is Birmingham’s second Women’s Enterprise Hub (opened in September 2015) & run by iSE, – a social enterprise support organisation with many years’ experience of helping women to set up and grow their own business. There are a number of offices and meeting spaces for rent in the Hub and we’re delighted that they are supporting us by allowing us to use this space.
If you have a free space we could use to display some items, big or small, please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org
