Hi I’m Viv, the new trainer at SIFA Fireside, and my background is in Corporate Training, predominantly around Lean Change Management techniques. So I’m very excited to take on new and challenging subjects in a completely different area!
We are a lead agency in Legal Highs training and just days before I joined the SIFA Fireside team the new Psychoactive Substances Bill was discussed in the House of Lords.
The House of Lords Committee Stages have progressed throughout June and the Bill will continue to be scrutinised, line by line until all amendments are complete. Decisions will need to be made regarding any substances that would be exempt from the bill, what the penalties should be for possession of a controlled drug, and how the police would enforce the stop and search powers outlined in the bill.
Once the Committee Stages are complete the Report Stage will follow, with Legal Highs potentially becoming Illegal Highs by Spring 2016.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome our part time training assistant, Heather, who is managing the day to day running of our training programmes along with marketing and publicity, following success in this area in her previous role at Friends of the Earth.
