SIFA Fireside has been successful in getting funding for a pilot project to help our clients find work. The project, Creative Pathways to Work, is helping a group of clients to prepare for and find work and to make the transition into working life. This is part of wider pilot in Birmingham, being managed by the BEST Network, with funding from the Dept. of Work & Pensions ‘Flexible Support Fund’, which aims to help those furthest from the labour market to overcome barriers they face in gaining employment.
Creative Pathways provides a range of creative activities to help clients improve their confidence and communications skills, and at the same time supports individuals to take up vocational training, apply for jobs and to make the transition into work. We have appointed Zavia Campbell to the post of Job Coach/Project Worker; Zavia is working closely with our Lottery-funded Changing Lives employment support project. The project has made a great start, with 12 clients already registered and actively taking important steps towards employment. Many have had to overcome a number of obstacles to do this and we wish them well on their ‘creative pathway’.
We have already had a number of clients complete a Domino’s Pizza training course!
