My name is Robert and around 18 months ago I found myself homeless and living on the streets with no hope for the future. Previously I had spent many years working as a theatrical tailor designing and making costumes around the world, which included everything from pattern draft to full make through. I had a good client base within companies such as Tesco/Asda/Air tours/Royal Ascot/Theme parks/ and personal commissions from many soap opera stars and media services.
When I moved into a hostel, I found some hope and I was directed to SIFA Fireside where I received support to become more focused and started to change my life. I began to keep myself busy; filling my time with activities which not only got me though the day but was amazing for my body and soul.
Whilst being at SIFA Fireside I noticed a way in which I could use my skills to help others because everyone has their favourite jacket/trousers, which sometimes need repairing. By sharing my skills in a sewing group I can teach clients to repair their garments. These skills will also develop into designing and making items such as pillows/cushions, bedding and soft furnishings for the new homes clients hope to move on to.
This group will teach clients a new and useful skill as well as self confidence in their abilities.
We are looking for help with the possible donation of the following items:-
Any craft items
Wallpaper for patterns/drawing.
Any amount large or small would be very gratefully received. SIFA Fireside also welcome any one to come and see for themselves why the centre is so needed and the good work that’s undertaken daily. Please contact email@example.com
Again I thank you for your time in this matter and look forward to your replies with gratitude.
