On Saturday 10th May SIFA Fireside held its first ever fundraising Bed Push race and Dog Show, here are the key highlights of the day!
Strong Man Dave Gauder pulled all four emergency service vehicles in support of SIFA Fireside.
Strong Man Dave has 26 World Records as a strong man and has completed over 1000 bus pulls for charity. On Saturday 10th May he pulled a Fire Engine, a Police van, an Ambulance and an AA Van weighing a combined total of 22.5 tonnes to raise awareness of SIFA Fireside.
We then had our Bed Push race where sponsored teams pushed a hospital bed up the road, completed an obstacle and then ran the rest of the race, followed by the Dog Show for clients’ and staff’s dogs which was an overwhelming success and a big confidence boost for clients whose dogs won awards.
Meanwhile in the ‘drop in’ there were games, crafts and a jumble sale, as well as food and musical entertainment from Rich McMahon, and it was a great day which demonstrated the strong partnership between SIFA Fireside and West Midlands Police. We’re always looking for new ways to raise funds to continue supporting Birmingham’s homeless community not just in practical ways such as food
and showers but also through health support, training programmes and advice
