Members of the Moseley Community Partnership have recently surveyed local businesses as well as people attending the Farmers’ Market and found that 70% agreed that Moseley is now a safer and pleasanter place to live and work.
SIFA Fireside plays an important part in the Partnership as everyone who comes to the notice of the police as a result of street drinking, antisocial behaviour or aggressive begging is referred on to us for support. Referrals go initially to Isobel
Knowles, our Moseley Outreach Worker, and then people can be linked into our daily ‘drop in’ sessions to receive further practical help, e.g benefits and health advice. We also work closely with other agencies such as Birmingham City Council, Aquarius, Midland Heart and West Midlands Fire Service to make sure people get all the services they need.
Residents commented ‘Groups of drinkers have gone now, – it’s improved 100% I can tell!’ ‘About time something was done; please do whatever it takes.’
