We have received a grant of £40,000 to deliver a private rented scheme in Sandwell beginning in March 2013. The one year grant is managed by Crisis and funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government.
Our successful private rented sector programme in Birmingham ends in April 2013 and has housed 71 formerly homeless people with a 90% retention rate, thanks to the support offered by the resettlement team. We will build on this success by working with Sandwell Council and local partner agencies, for example with Sandwell Homes for tenancy support.
This programme will:
- Enable single, homeless people to access PRS accommodation with a focus on tenancy sustainment as a long term solution to homelessness.
- Improve joint working between the voluntary and public sectors in Sandwell.
- Help build relationships between the voluntary sector and private landlords.
