Chef Richard Turner of Turner’s Michelin-starred restaurant has achieved his goal of completing the Midlands Fun Run, beating his target time of 2 hours and raising money for the City’s homeless.

Richard vowed to help as a result of his experience of sleeping on his restaurant floor in his chef’s whites over Christmas following a house fire, and, true to his word, he joined thousands of runners on  June 10th in Sutton Coldfield, braving the heat, to run the 8.5 miles around the town and through the park,  “I had not had time to train much for the run” commented Richard, “but we were delighted to complete well within my personal target, and help raise much needed funds for homeless people”.

Richard raised over £800 through donations from customers in his restaurant and online, and has vowed to raise more; “I’d like to thank everyone for their generous donations and kind words of encouragement on Sunday, and I’m hoping to more than double the money raised through a dinner in aid of SIFA Fireside later this year to help celebrate their 30th anniversary of working with Birmingham’s disadvantaged people.”

Richard has set up a Just Giving page for new donations to help him towards his goal of £2000, and one lucky donor will win a free place at his fund raising dinner later this year which will feature a tasting menu:
